Standing Against Islamophobia
We stand by our Muslim friends and neighbors against anti-Arab and anti-Muslim bigotry.
We are witnessing an insidious new wave of demonization of Arabs and Muslims in this country. We are particularly concerned about right-wing Christian and Jewish groups dedicated to denying the fundamental rights of Palestinians, who are deliberately fueling fear of Muslims and Arabs to push their unfair agenda in the Middle East. We oppose this poisoned environment. It violates our bedrock values of tolerance and diversity, marginalizes American citizens from political participation, and makes it nearly impossible to have open and reasonable dialogue about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and US foreign policy.
A strong democracy requires a majority that stands up for the minority, refusing to remain silent when others fuel the fires of division and hatred.
As Jews and other people of faith, we know too well the price when others remain silent. That's why we stand up as allies when Muslims and Arabs in the United States in particular are unfairly attacked.
